2024 Better Neighbor Fund Grants

Town & Country FCU Awards $25,000 to Non-Profits

Highlighting its commitment and support of the communities it serves that goes well beyond financial services, Town & Country Federal Credit Union welcomed 20 area non-profits for its annual ‘Better Neighbor Fund’ Reception on Wednesday evening, November 13th. The credit union announced the eight non-profits from Cumberland and York Counties that received the most votes through a public vote that collected 11,300 votes during October. Grants totaling $25,000 were awarded, with amounts ranging from $2,000-$5,000 to those non-profits. The credit union also announced and distributed additional contributions of $100 each to the 12 other non-profits that did not finish in the top eight in votes.

David Libby, President and CEO of Town & Country, reinforced the importance of ‘being neighborly’ through support and kindness. “In a world that often feels fast paced and disconnected, the simple act of being a good neighbor holds incredible value. We recognize the power of a community where neighbors look out for each other, lend a hand when someone is in need, and create an environment of warmth and care. It’s the small gestures—smiling at someone as you pass them by, offering to help carry groceries, or just taking the time to check in—that turns a neighborhood into a true community. It is our hope that these grants will again enable our recipients to make a difference in ways that enhance and strengthen our neighborhoods and enrich where we live. This is a shining example of our ‘local helping local’ philosophy.”

The eight non-profits receiving grants and where they are headquartered are as follows:

$5,000 grant recipients –

  • Summer Camp for Girls — Bridgton
  • Ruth’s Reusable Resources — Portland
  • A House for ME — Kittery

$2,000 grant recipients –

  • Pine Tree Society — Scarborough
  • Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland — Westbrook
  • Center for Wildlife — Cape Neddick
  • Portland Media Center — Portland
  • Habitat for Humanity of York County — Kennebunk

With these grants, Town & Country surpassed the $375,000 milestone in Better Neighbor Fund grants supporting nearly 140 different community programs since it launched this groundbreaking initiative in 2010.
