Message from David Libby, President and CEO
Growing up, like many young children, I eagerly anticipated the holidays. Making a list, putting up decorations, eating special cookies, looking longingly at presents with my name on them trying to imagine what was under the wrapping paper, and being with family. Thinking back to those days, that joy and spirit still brings a smile to my face.
Today, as an adult, my view of the holidays may look a bit different but many of those same feelings live on, especially the spirit of family; not just my own, but my credit union family, made up of a wonderful volunteer board, who give tirelessly of their time and talents, a tremendous staff and an incredible extended ‘family’ of 40,000 members.
While we don’t personally ‘shop’ for gifts for all 40,000 members, I was struck by the many gifts we are able to give each other throughout the year because of who we are – a member-owned, not-for-profit, financial cooperative. The support of our member-owners enables us to grow, offer new products and services, and contribute to our community. Because of our ‘local helping local’ focus, we are also able to give gifts that make a difference in our members’ lives all year. Members like Laurie, who had credit card debt with a high interest rate and came to us to see if we could help. We worked with Laurie to get her a Town & Country Visa Credit Card at a much lower rate and no balance transfer fee so she could transfer from her high interest credit card to a Town & Country card, saving her more than $7,000 in interest payments. While Laurie’s story may seem extraordinary, providing solutions to our members is an ordinary part of what we do every day.
As we look ahead to 2025, we hope that you ‘share’ the gift of joining Town & Country with others – family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and anyone else you meet. Our wish is also that you continue to utilize our products and services to ‘enrich’ your financial journey, because the more you take advantage of being a member-owner, the more benefits you unwrap.
